I am an independent IT Consultant with over 20 year's experience in the IT Industry.

My advice is:-

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING
from
computerwebstore.co.uk

My experience with computerwebstore.co.uk leads me to believe that they are a dishonest company with poor (if not fraudulent) trading practices.

Welcome

This website exists for the purpose of exposing my dealings with a company whose website is located at
http://www.computerwebstore.co.uk

There may be links on this website associated with the aforesaid company but the owner of this website states here and now that these links are only provided as a source of public information. The links point to websites that already exist and their providance in no way constitutes direct critisism of the company known as Computer Web Store.

Below is reproduced a chain of correspondance between myself and this aforementioned company. This is the sole information source I have for this company and any other communication between anyone else and this website is their own business. I can only vouch for the communications between myself and this UK-based company..

I ordered a printer from this website with a client. The printer did not arrive within the time stated by the company for arrival. The printer has still not arrived and the company has debited monies from my client's bank account and repeatedly offers an alternative printer which is unacceptable.

Below is reproduced a chain of correspondance between myself and the company. I will remove this website as soon as my client has been given a full refund.

At the beginning of September 2007 my trusty Epson printer gave up the ghost and I needed to buy a new printer. A friend recommended that I look at Canon printers as she'd been very happy with hers. I looked at the pros and cons of many different models of printer and after comparing specifications and reading various customer reviews I was satisfied that the Canon ip3300 was a pretty safe bet. I ordered one from DABS and was extremely happy with it. It prints well and the cartridges aren't too expensive to replace.

On the 19th of October, a client of mine needed to replace her printer and I recommended the Canon. DABS did not have it in stock and so we searched together for an on-line retailer who did stock it. We found computerwebstore.co.uk where we were informed that three units were in stock and that delivery time would be 3-5 days. We ordered the printer and charged it to my client's Visa/Debit card and my client received the following email back immediately from computerwebstore.co.uk.

Note that although the website had stated "3-5 days", the email now stated "3-10 days". Upon contacting my client towards the end of the next week, I was surprised that the printer had not yet arrived but assured her that I'd be round to install it as soon as it did. We heard nothing from computerwebstore.co.uk in twelve days and my client had tried to email them but all her emails were being bounced back to her. I decided to contact computerwebstore.co.uk myself and sent them the following email on the 1st November.

Hello unfortunately the model you have ordered is no longer available it has been replaced by the 1800 would you like us to ship one of these?

Regards Computerwebstore.

Website www.computerwebstore.co.uk

At the time of ordering, Computer Web Store had claimed to have 3 in stock and had estimated delivery time as being 3-5 days. If we had wanted to wait for the printer we could have ordered one from DABS. We were now being told thirteen days after placing our order, that computerwebstore.co.uk no longer stocked the printer and I sent them the following email immediately.

Dear Computer Web Store Sales,

Thank you for your prompt reply to my email on behalf of my client and your offer to supply a similar item. Unfortunately, my client has decided to decline your offer and in light of the non-availability of this item has now chosen to cancel the order all together. She trusts that she will not be billed and that you will remove her credit card details from your records until future order/s are made.

Many thanks.

I then ordered a Canon iP3300 printer from play.com and installed it for my client when it arrived three days later. She was happy with the printer and we both considered the matter closed.

On the 16th of November, my client contacted me to say that she had received her bank statement and that computerwebstore.co.uk had taken mony from her account for the printer (which they no longer stocked) on the 22nd of October. This was the Monday following the Friday when we had originally ordered the printer and 11 days before letting us know that the printer was no longer in stock. In other words, they had debited her account for the full amount knowing full well that they had no product and had taken 11 days to inform us that they could not supply the printer we wanted.

At this point I sent them the following email.

Dear Computer Web Store Sales,

I recommended your Web Store to a client and ordered a printer with her on 19/10/07. The printer was listed as being in-stock and we were both surprised when after over one week, it had not arrived.

After making enquiries on 01/11/07 using the web-form on your website, I was informed by email the next day on 02/11/07 that you no longer stocked the printer and an offer was made by yourselves to supply a different printer. I declined your kind offer immediately and asked that my client not be billed and that her credit card details be removed from your database.

In the meantime, my client has received her bank statement and is surprised, as am I, to find that monies were removed from her account on 23/10/07 and before your email offering to supply a replacement.
No monies have since been credited. I trust that you will do your best to rectify this oversight at the soonest opportunity. Should you require my client’s bank details again in order to issue a credit then please would you contact her by email to request them. Her email address is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX@tiscali.co.uk.

Please find the chain of correspondence below with details of the order.

I look forward to a swift reply keeping me informed of the state of progress of this matter and look forward to being able to further recommend your company to all my clients for their IT needs.

Kind regards,
XXXXXXXX X XXXXX.

I sent this email on Monday the 19th of November and when on the following Friday 23rd I had heard nothing from them, I googled for information about the company (having found no address or telephone number on their own website) and sent them the following email.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Dear Computer Web Store Sales,

I have not received, in good time, a reply to my email sent on Monday 19th November 2007 (please see below) and I now feel that I have no option other than to notify the relevant persons and authorities of your poor (if not fraudulent) trading practices.

Please be advised that should no satisfactory outcome be reached within the next 7 days, I will be passing the following information on to my solicitor. I will also send copies of all communications to Trading Standards, BBC Watchdog and the Police.

At this point, all they had to do was refund my client the small sum of money for the printer and the whole episode could have been forgotten about. So what do you think they did? Well the good news is that they replied very quickly to my email. In fact they replied one hour and ten minutes later; a record for computerwebstore.co.uk.
The bad news is that this was their reply.

Now that's what I call INSULTING!

I immediately sent them the following relpy and on the basis that I don't let myself be "walked over", I then set up this website.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Dear CWS,

Please read ALL of my last email to you (re-printed below) and then note my immediate instruction to you
in the following two parts.

(1) DO NOT ship anything to my client. Any service from you other than refunding monies is no longer welcome.
(2) Refund all erroneously debited monies to my client immediately.

In addition please be advised that I believe you to be deliberately using stalling-tactics for your own perceived advantage. Please refrain from doing this. My time is valuable and should you persist in attempting to try my patience and in wasting my time I will add a financial claim of my own to any possible future legal proceedings.

Yours sincerely,

At the moment, I've not included any metadata in this webpage and I've not done any search engine placement so it is not easy to find using Google. If computerwebstore.co.uk continue to ignore me and do not refund my client very soon I will make it my mission to drive this website to the top of the natural search engine listings so that anyone typing "Computer Web Store" into Google will find it amongst the top entries.

Future plans for this website include a Comments area where other customers will be able to share information as well as a Complaint Form for dissatisfied customers to fill in so that their complaints can be automatically forward to Trading Standards and The Police.

I just have this one message for computerwebstore.co.uk.

You don't need the bad publicity and I have better ways of spending my time so why don't you just refund the lousy fifty quid?
