Windows - Learning Bad Habits
Very few people get any straight forward training on how to use Windows. We all just take the plunge when we start using our first PC and because we have the feeling of having achieved so much such a short time we tend to believe that our level of proficiency is sufficient to achieve most of our goals.. Many learn how to get things done through trial and error but often in a cumbersome way. They try this and they try that and after a while something works. The same methods are then used again and again even though there are better, faster and more efficient ways of doing things.

File Handling
One thing almost every "window" shares in common are those three little grey boxes in the top right-hand corner. The most useful appears to be the one that makes the window bigger. It fills the "full screen" and having learned to maximise the window to "full screen", this is what most people tend to do which is a pity because consequently another useful feature called "drag and drop" becomes useless. Without "drag and drop", efficient file handling skill are never learnt.

Too Many Choices
I run into people who have been using a PC for years. Some don't know how to select multiple files or objects and end up taking a long time to do what could be done in a few clicks. Others are constantly moving windows into handy positions oblivious to the fact that they could turn on a feature that will "remember" the window positions for them. One of the great strengths and weaknesses of Windows is that there are so many ways to do things but if you are not aware of the possibilities, what's the use of having all that power at your finger tips? How does one find the most efficient method if one sticks with the first method one finds that works?
